I happen to feel that affiliate marketing is a fantastic business model that anyone can make money in. However there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

As with many ways to make money online there are positives and negatives to getting started as an affiliate marketer. Let’s talk about whether affiliate marketing is for you or not!

1. Does the thought of working for yourself appeal to you? When you run your own affiliate marketing business you do not have a boss telling you what to do. I’m a work at home mom (WAHM) and I love it! I can re-arrange my schedule to pick the kids up from school when they are sick or take the dog to the groomers on a Tuesday. I can leave for the weekend or even the week on short notice and with little effort (and still be making money!) I work 12-15 hours a week and my income is growing steadily every month. In a few years (or less) my husband will be able to retire from his job because my income will exceed his. Or better yet, he will join me in my business.

I am a work at home mom who is has a network marketing (mlm) business. I am an independent distributor for an awesome company. It has taken me a while to find the right company and the right fit, but now that I have it is all coming together.

I’ve struggled with working from home on the Internet for years, but now I am really succeeding in my business. And I am not so isolated anymore. I have made the greatest group of friends (from all over the world) who are now my business partners.

One of the best parts of being involved in the right network marketing company is having a support system, from encouraging friends to good company training. And a good MLM company should have an easy duplicatable system that is simple for anyone to learn and succed at.

A network marketing business takes work, don’t let anyone fool you into thinking it doesn’t. It is a real business and it only works if you put effort into it. I tend to be a shy person and a loner, so perhaps it takes me more effort than some, but it’s worth it! I have become a better and happier person because I have stretched myself, and my business has blossomed.

If you are a mom who is looking for a way to earn money at home, be careful. The Internet is full of scams and companies that will only rip you off. Check carefully into any business you enter into. Find a good solid network marketing company that has the best interests of the customers and distributors in mind. Find a company that gives back and doesn’t just take. Find a company that has good solid products that people want and need. If the products are something you can’t find somewhere else, that’s even better. Like any business, a home business needs to be nurtured in order for it to be successful. You have to do this until you have attained the level within the organization where you can sit back and let the business work for you.

How does all of that tie in to the keys of success for a home business? It means that you have to work hard in order to be successful. One of the mistakes that many people make with a home-based business is that they fail to see it as a business and put it second in line after doing all of the other things they want to do. Even though you are not working in an office, you still have a business that needs your attention. So you have to devote time to doing just that.

That means if your best friend calls and wants you to go shopping, you have to make sure she understands that you still have a job, even though you are working at home. Does that mean you neglect family and friends? No, of course not. But you have to set aside certain hours to work on your business. Just as you would if you were going to work each day. That doesn’t mean that you have to work 8-5 each day. You do need to put in the amount of hours necessary in order to do the things that are required.

It’s also important to set aside a certain amount of time to do nothing but network and business promotion. You can do this by email, website promotion, passing out business cards in your local area, making up fliers to send out, or any number of other ways. The important thing is that you must have an organized method of networking if you want your business to be successful.

In summary, the key points are
(1) Treat your business as if you were going to work each day;
(2) Have an organized criteria for what you need to do daily; and
(3) Build your business with the knowledge that you will always have to be involved in order to maintain success.
