How To Hang On To Your Home Business When The Going Gets Tough


Not everyone can put up a successful home business. Beginners usually find themselves at a loss especially in the first few months of operations. More often than not, when the going gets tough an entrepreneur would opt to forget about the whole thing and give up the home business. If you are one of those people who are having trouble getting started and are about to give, hold on a little longer. Things could change for the better if you give it a little more time. Never give up on something until such time when you feel that you have exhausted all your options and still things are not looking better. Conducting Evaluation

When things go wrong, as they most likely will during the first few months of your business operations, take time to evaluate the past events that led to your present predicament. It is always worthwhile to retrace your steps and learn what happened along the way. In most cases, the past events could help you analyze the many aspects of your business and could help you see your business in another perspective.

Conducting an evaluation is the best way to determine what went wrong in your business. Once you know what went wrong, you will be in a better position to find solutions to your problems. When evaluating the causes of your problems, make sure that you look into all the aspects of the situation. Go to the roots of the problems. For instance, if you product fails to sell, you must not just assume that your product is no good. It is possible that you product is good but you did not advertise it enough, the packaging is bad and the price is unreasonable. Take a look at all the possible angles why your product did not sell as you expected.

Studying options

Once you know what caused your business problems, you must now try to find solutions. Make a list of all your available options and rank them according to viability. Choose the best option and implement it accordingly. If the first option does not work, then go on to option two. You can use as many options as you like until you finally find the right one. However, you should also know when to stop. Note that there are cases which are simply too far gone for you to do anything. When you are confronted with situations are beyond help, it is best to simply walk away and let things be. There is really no point of beating a dead horse.

Ask for help

When you feel that there are things which are out of your league, do not hesitate to ask for help. Do not pretend that you know anything and that you can everything on your own. Always remember that somebody out there may have some good ideas that you could borrow.

I know… in today’s busy society, who has the time to drive traffic? Most of us are just trying to make a few extra dollars to keep our heads above water. Well friends, I am here to tell you that there are methods to drive traffic that anyone can do. Best of all these methods are time efficient and inexpensive. The methods are: traffic exchanges and forums. Individually each method will work, but combining both methods can make it possible to drive significant traffic to your site. Now it is not going to happen over night; but if you stick with it, it will happen.

Generally speaking, traffic exchanges are free or relatively inexpensive. To make a traffic exchange worth while, your goal should be to create five-thousand or more credits and run multiple ads. Yes, creating this many credits can become a little time consuming. The way to get around this is to purchase them or upgrade to pro status. Recruiting members into traffic exchanges also earns you extra credits. The only problem here is that you will not be able to directly recruit the majority of the people that view your ads because most of them are already members of the traffic exchange. There are three ways to solve this, one is to join more than one exchange and cross advertise, another is to advertise your primary business through the traffic exchange and then expose your recruits to the method that you used to recruit them (also known as building a list), and the third is to use a viral traffic exchange program that combines many exchanges under one umbrella. These programs are great because they can simultaneously create many credits in multiple traffic exchanges.

Forums, like traffic exchanges, are also free. You can find a great deal of them by doing a search on your favorite search engine. Just type in the word ‘forum’ and you will see what I mean. There are thousands of forums out there on the net. Once you have done your search and found a few that you like, you simply sign up, create a sig file and begin to naturally contribute to the forum conversations. This will create exposure for your website. To maximize this exposure, it is a good idea to post at least five posts per day. A great thing to remember about forums is that your posts are on the board for the life of the forum. So, many years from now, you may recruit a person from a post that you posted yesterday.

Driving traffic to your site is not easy but it is worth it. So if it seems that your traffic driving methods are not working, stick with them. With a little patience and persistence, you will surprise yourself with the amount of traffic that you can drive to your site.

If you are affiliate marketing you are missing the boat if you are not also building your e-mail marketing list at the same time. In this article we want to analyze that statement, and hopefully convince you to get busy building a list of your own.

Affiliate marketing is great because you are given your own website coded with your ID number to promote and sell products for affiliate merchants. This makes it very easy for people to start an affiliate marketing business of their own right away.

However, there are two problems with using the website that you are given by the merchant that you represent.

1. The first problem is that you are now promoting a website that everyone else is also promoting. This makes it hard for you to differentiate yourself and to add any of your own personality to the product you’re selling.

2. The second problem is that you do not have any way to build a follow-up mailing list. Because many people will not buy on the first visit, you are losing that potential customer, because you have no way to follow up with them.

Therefore, you can understand why we say it’s important that you build an e-mail marketing list of your own. So how do you do that when you’re an affiliate marketer?

The way you do that is, you design a splash page or landing page of your own that is there to capture contact information of your visitor. On that splash page is a sign-up form where you can request information such as your visitor’s name, e-mail address, phone number, or whatever you want.

That contact form is redirected to an autoresponder where your visitors contact information is stored for future follow. In that autoresponder you want to have a series of messages describing the benefits of the product you are promoting as an affiliate.

Now instead of advertising your affiliate website, you advertise your new splash page. Does this make sense?

You can even quickly generate a splash page of your own for free on many various websites online. Just do a google search for the words free splash page generator and check out a few to find one that appeals to you.

Hopefully now you will see the benefits of building a list while you are also building your affiliate marketing business. This is a very simple strategy to implement and one all affiliate marketer should be doing, starting today, if they are not already.
